DML CELEBRATES ITS 90TH ANNIVERSARY

???????????????????????????????

DML Group is celebrating its 90th anniversary!

The company, which was founded as Drawn Metal, was set up on 21 November, 1924. It was a time when George V was the country’s reigning monarch, the first television pictures had flickered into life and petrol cost around two shillings a gallon.
From a fledgling business started with 200 £1 shares, it has grown into a multi-million pound firm manufacturing products from its Swinnow Lane, Bramley, Leeds base for schemes that include one of the Sultan of Brunei’s palaces, the Barcelona Olympic Games, the Assembly buildings at the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood, the O2 in Greenwich and Trinity Leeds. Walk down Regent Street in London and most of the bronze shopfronts have been made by DML.
The company now has a turnover of almost £10m and employs 64 people, counting some of the world’s leading brands and the UK’s largest main contractors among its clients.
Most recently, DML has won several new contracts including a number of retail bank stores, a residential development in central London and a commercial office development in London’s West End.
In addition to Drawn Metal, the company also owns DML Architectural Systems, which specialises in external aluminium façades, cladding, windows, unitised and curtain walling.

Robert Copping, managing director, DML Group, said: “We are very proud to be celebrating 90 years in business.

“Reaching this significant milestone is entirely due to the dedication of everyone at the company over the years. Our people are our strength and we’re very proud that some have spent their whole working lives with us. Our philosophy is still based on the founding principles of quality, integrity and loyalty.

“The company has lived through some major world events and tough economic times. Today we are in very good shape and we can look forward to continuing to grow the business in the years ahead.”

An illustrated, commemorative, book showing the full history of the company is being published in December 2014.
